Optilume is FDA-approved for patients with:

  • Anterior urethral strictures (in the penile or bulbar urethra) up to 3 cm in length.
  • Strictures resulting from prior instrumentation, catheterization, trauma, or inflammation.
  • No prior urethroplasty or complex reconstructive surgery in the treatment area.
  • Healthy surrounding tissue without active infection or fistula.

El procedimiento: qué esperar

Antes del procedimiento

  • Pre-op evaluation includes urine culture, imaging, and medical clearance.
  • Stop blood thinners as directed (usually 5-7 days prior).
  • NPO (nothing by mouth) after midnight the night before.
  • Arrive at our ASC 1 hour before scheduled time.

  • General or spinal anesthesia for comfort.
  • Cystoscope identifies the stricture location.
